A Temporary Event Notice (TEN) is a notification given by an individual to the Borough of Telford & Wrekin giving notice of a temporary event with less than 500 attendees where a 'licensable activity' (in this case the sale of alcohol) is planned to take place.
The person giving the notice (in this case the hirer of the hall) must be over 18 years old.
Coalport Village Hall, like all premises, is only allowed 12 temporary events per year and so it is important that you notify the hall in advance that you are going to apply for a Temporary Event Notice so that we can advise you if it is possible. If we have used up our allocation of 12 events then the Council will not grant you a Temporary Event Notice.
A specific event can last up to 96 hours but there has to be at least 24 hours between separate temporary events held by the same person (or associate).
You must give both the Borough of Telford & Wrekin and the Police Licensing Officer a minimum of 10 working days notice, exclusive of the day on which the notice was given and exclusive of the day on which the event is to take place.
There is a large form that needs to be completed (available from our Booking Officer on request or click here) and an administration fee of £21 (this fee is charged by the Council, not Coalport Village Hall). Sent the completed copies of the form to:
2 copies: Licensing, Darby House, Lawn Central, Telford TF3 4JA
1 copy: Tony Mantle, Wellington Police Station, Victoria Road, Telford, TF1 1LQ
1 copy: Environmental Health, Darby House, Lawn Central, Telford TF3 4JA
Remember - at least 10 clear working days before the event
